Fatal Crash in San Diego

On Wednesday morning, a driver ran a red light that resulted in a fatal crash. The wreck happened in University City, and the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and manslaughter. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the driver that ran the red light was 39-year-old Soranun Booppanon.

The crash happened at about 10:30 a.m. at the corner of La Jolla Village Drive and Genesee Avenue. After driving through a red light, Booppanon’s Prius struck an Audi, a Volkswagen Golf and then hit a Nissan Titan. The intersection was closed for investigations until around 3:00 p.m. The driver of Golf was killed, and a passenger sustained major injuries. Additionally, the driver of the Audi was also listed as having sustained injuries. Booppanon was treated for minor injuries and booked into jail.
