On Saturday night, there was a fatal two-vehicle crash in southern San Luis Obispo County. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the wreck happened on South Thompson Avenue, just north of Highway 166, at about 7:40 p.m. Very little information has been released about this crash, but we do know that a pickup truck and a motorcycle were involved. Initial reports indicate that the driver of the pickup truck attempted to make a left hand turn but didn’t see the oncoming traffic and pulled into the path of a motorcycle.
The motorcycle hit the side of the truck, and both riders were ejected. One of the motorcycle riders was pronounced dead on the scene, and the other one was rushed to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. A portion of the roadway was closed for about two hours as first responders and crews worked the scene.
