In the early morning hours on Saturday, a woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash oh Highway 101 near Buellton. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the wreck happened in the northbound lanes of 101, just north of Jonata Park Road, at about 1:50 a.m. A Toyota corolla was reportedly traveling at about 65-70 miles per hour when it drifted to the right side of the road.

The vehicle hit safety cones and an illuminated traffic advisory sign. The car then traveled out of control across the northbound lanes, went into the center median and then rolled over. The driver was ejected from the vehicle, and was pinned underneath it when first responders arrived. In spite of efforts made by first responders, she did not survive her injuries. This incident is still under investigation, and officials are looking into whether or not she may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
