The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) just released the statistics regarding deadly driving under the influence (DUI) crashes in 2016. According to NBC San Diego News Channel Seven, fatal DUI crashes are up from 2015. There were 11 fatal DUI crashes on city streets and highways in San Diego last year. In those crashes, 16 people were killed. In 2015, 15 people were killed in drunk driving crashes in San Diego.
During the busy holiday season, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) has been reminding people to designate drivers and plan ahead before celebrating with alcohol. Law enforcement agencies in San Diego and across the state will continue to increase and step up their enforcement efforts to reduce preventable injury-causing and fatal drunk driving crashes in California.
