Fatal Highway 101 Crash in San Luis Obispo County

Last weekend, there was a fatal single-vehicle crash on Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo County. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the incident happened On Sunday morning, just north of the Cuesta Grade. Very little information has been released about this wreck, but we do know that there were five people in the SUV at the time of the wreck, including a one-year-old child. Initial reports indicate that a 51-year-old passenger from Santa Maria was killed in the crash.

The other four people, including the driver, were taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of injuries. When first responders arrived on the scene, they declared the crash a level one mass-casualty incident due to the number of people in the vehicle. This crash is likely still under investigation with the California Highway Patrol.
