On Monday, there was a fatal two-vehicle crash on Highway 166 near Santa Maria. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, a westbound 2008 Toyota Camry crossed into oncoming traffic after taking a corner at high speeds. Although the driver of the other vehicle braked and tried to avoid the Camry, the two cars collided. The Toyota was sent airborne and rolled several times. The rear passenger compartment even separated from the vehicle during the crash.

There were two children, ages four and seven years old, in the Toyota. They were both ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. Five people, including two other children, were injured in the crash. Although very few details have been released, initial reports indicate that drunk driving was a factor in this crash.
