Fatal Plane Crash in San Diego Parking Lot

A small plane crash in a parking lot took the life of a 78-year-old woman this week. The incident happened in the parking lot for Costco and Target in the Kearny Mesa area. According to the Associated Press, the plane clipped the top of the Target store and took out a light pole on its way down.

Bystanders ran outside with fire extinguishers and were able to douse the flames before they reached the fuel tank, and pull the pilot and passenger out of the wreckage. The 52-year-old pilot was seriously injured but is expected to survive. Sadly, the passenger of the single-engine 1988 Mooney M-20L suffered from serious burns and died at the hospital. The team at Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, Inc. sends their deepest condolences to the family members and friends of the deceased, and also wishes a full and speedy recovery to the injured pilot.
