Father Loses Leg After Hit and Run Crash

Last week, a man lost his leg after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in San Diego. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened in the parking lot of an El Cerrito Food 4 Less. The man was buckling his child into a car seat when the vehicle veered into him and pinned him against his car. The vehicle, a silver Saturn Vue, then fled the scene.

With the help of a bystander, the six-year-old child was able to unlock the father’s phone to call family members. When first responders arrived on the scene, they rushed the man to the hospital, where he was treated for a variety of critical injuries including a fractured pelvis and right leg. After several surgeries, his leg was reportedly nonviable and had to be amputated. At this time, authorities are still trying to track down the driver involved.
