A young firefighter was killed, and two of his firefighter colleagues were injured in a car accident in Marina Del Rey. This accident occurred on Ocean Avenue and Washington Boulevard around 10 p.m. on Monday night. The young man that died was confirmed to be from Georgia, Ron Herens, and he died at the scene of the accident. The Daily News reported on the accident and confirmed Herens was ejected from the vehicle. The two passengers were immediately taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Unfortunately, the driver that hit them was suspected to be driving under the influence and was taken into custody. Witnesses told The Daily News, that the driver had run a red light at a high speed and hit the Herens vehivle.
