On Friday night, there was a crash involving a gasoline tanker truck and a sedan near Goleta. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the wreck happened in a northbound lane of Highway 101, near Turnpike Road at about 3:50 p.m. Initial reports indicate that the sedan may have crossed over the center median and crashed into the tanker truck. The tanker and trailer flipped over during the collision and spilled approximately 5,000 gallons of gasoline onto the roadway.
Thankfully, only minor injuries were reported on the scene. Hazardous materials crews were dispatched to the scene. A portion of the roadway had to be closed as crews responded to the spill. Caltrans had to repave a section of the highway due to the spilled gasoline damaging the concrete.
