Over the weekend, there was a head-on injury crash on Highway 1 near Lompoc. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the wreck happened just south of Ocean Avenue at about 7:00 a.m. For currently unknown reasons, a pickup truck and a sedan collided head-on. First responders rushed to the scene where both drivers had to be extricated from the wreckage. One of the drivers was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of injuries, and the other one was rushed to Marian Regional Medical Center via ambulance.

A portion of Highway One had to be closed in both directions as crews and first responders worked the scene. There has been no word on either person’s current condition or on the full extent of injuries involved, and this crash is likely still under investigation with the California Highway Patrol.
