On September 2, 2013, a cyclist was killed on Highway 1 near the Morro Bay Boulevard off-ramp. The driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Jessica Goddard of Cayucos, was arrested on suspicion of felony vehicular manslaughter and felony driving under the influence. The other cyclist involved in the collision was 60-year-old Bradley Cummings who was taken to Sierra Vista Medical Center with major injuries.
