I-5 Crash in Carlsbad sends drivers into Parking Lot

A crash on I-5 in Carlsbad sent two drivers down an embankment and into an apartment complex parking lot. The crash occurred on Halloween night, just before 8:00 p.m. According to Channel 10 News, a driver, who is now facing drunken driving charges, struck the back of a utility truck on I-5.

Witnesses report that the driver of a BMW was travelling at high speeds prior to slamming into the back of a Ford utility truck. Both vehicles went down an embankment and into the parking lot of an apartment complex on 1001 Pine Avenue.

Both vehicles landed upside, and emergency responders had to free the BMW driver. The driver of the BMW sustained major injuries and was immediately transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital. The driver of the utility truck did report pain in his shoulder and head. Additionally, his passenger also reported pain in his neck.
