On Saturday evening, at least four people were injured in a crash involving an ambulance and a Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s patrol car. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the incident happened on Calle Real and Old Mill Road, just after 6:00 p.m. For currently unknown reasons, the patrol car reportedly rear-ended the ambulance. At the time of the crash, the ambulance was headed to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with a jail inmate suffering from a head injury.

The ambulance apparently slowed for a traffic signal before the patrol car slammed into the back of it. Although very few details have been released, we do know that the deputy, the jail patient, the ambulance driver, a paramedic and another deputy were all transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of injuries.
