On Sunday, five people were injured in a crash on Highway 101 in Buellton. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the one-vehicle crash happened just south of Avenue of Flags at about 2:30 p.m. A car careened off of the roadway after the driver fell asleep behind the wheel. There were five people in the vehicle at the time of the wreck, and one of them had to be airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for serious injuries.
First responders and crews rushed to the scene, where the vehicle landed up on its wheels in a horse pasture below the roadway and embankment. There has been no word on the current condition of the person who was airlifted to the hospital or the extent of injuries involved. This wreck could still be under investigation with local law enforcement authorities.
