Injury Crashes in Santa Maria

On Monday night, two separate crashes, happening just minutes apart, in Santa Maria sent four people to the hospital. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the first wreck happened at about 10:45 p.m. at Stowell Road and College Drive. Apparently, a GMC Yukon slammed into a Nissan sedan. The Yukon went into a spin and rolled, ejecting the driver. He had to be airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of critical injuries. The other driver was also injured in the crash.

The second collision happened on Enos Drive and Miller Street just a few minutes after the first crash. One of the victims had to be extricated from his vehicle and was in critical condition. The other driver fled the scene and was later apprehended and charged with felony DUI, felony hit-and-run and driving while unlicensed. No details have been released about the victims’ current conditions.
