Over the weekend, Major League Baseball lost a young talented pitcher, Yordana Ventura, in a car accident. Ventura helped The Kansas City Royals win the world series in 2015. According to CNN, “He was drafted by the club in 2013, had a 38-31 career pitching record and started in nine postseason games.” The crash occurred in the province of San Jose de Ocoa on a highway in Rancho Arriba in the Dominican Republic. The details of the crash have yet to be reported, however, the family will hold the funeral service in Ventura’s hometown, Las Terrenas.
Also reported, Major League infielder, Andy Marte, died in a car crash in the Dominican Republic on Sunday. The Royals confirmed Andy Marte played seven seasons in the big leagues, with the Indians, Braves, and Diamondbacks. Ironically, his last game in the MLB organization was against Yordana Ventura.
