Early Friday morning, a Lyft driver in San Diego struck a fire hydrant. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened in the Oak Park area on 54th and Nutmeg Streets at about 2:40 a.m. The Lyft driver fell asleep behind the wheel, causing his Kia to overturn and strike a fire hydrant. He was reportedly working long hours prior to the crash, and the car was a source of income for him.

First responders and crews rushed to the scene, where water was gushing into the air for about 20 minutes. The car sustained extensive damage in the wreck, and a portion of concrete was also damaged near the hydrant. There has been no word on whether or not the Lyft driver is facing any citations or if he had any customers in the car at the time of the wreck.
