On Thursday, a man and his service dog were pulled from the wreckage of a crash on Interstate 15 in Kearny Mesa. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened in the southbound lanes near Balboa Avenue at about 12:45 a.m. Very few details about the crash have been released, but initial reports indicate that the vehicle was traveling at high speeds prior to slamming into the back of another car.

The vehicle caught fire, and witnesses on the scene pulled the driver and his small service dog to safety. First responders rushed to the scene, and the driver was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries. Paramedics transported the dog from the scene. There has been no word on the cause of the crash, and this incident is likely still under investigation with local law enforcement officials.
