Over the weekend, an elderly man was fatally struck by a delivery truck in Montecito. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the incident happened at the Casa Dorinda retirement community on Hot Springs Road. Very few details have been released about this fatal pedestrian collision, but initial reports indicate that a delivery truck backed up and hit the 77-year-old man. That person was a resident of the retirement community.
The truck driver reportedly thought he had struck a curb at first, but did get out of his vehicle to check after the incident. The truck driver did remain on the scene, and this incident is likely still under investigation with local law enforcement officials. There has been no word on whether or not any citations have been issued.
