A vehicle caught fire Thursday morning in Milpitas on the Interstate 880 causing major burn injuries to the driver. The accident occurred on the I-880 near Hwy 237 around 5:20 a.m. An F-350 didn’t notice the slowdown in traffic and slammed into the back of this Nissan Maxima which immediately burst into flames.  The Mercury News stated, “Several passing drivers immediately stopped to help, which is why the CHP had early reports of 10 cars involved in the crash. At least three people helped pull the driver of the Nissan out of the burning car through the driver side window.” The driver of the Nissan was taken to the hospital with severe burn injuries. The lanes were shut down for about an hour causing immense traffic.
