The U.S. Department of Transportation (US DOT) is hoping to get the word out about all of their traffic safety mobile apps. While many people already know about the SaferCar app, they have since developed a few more apps for motorists and consumers who are interested in improving roadway safety.  With these apps, you can check safety ratings on vehicles, get recall information, find a safe ride home, check bus safety performance and operational compliance and even check to see if it’s safe to fly your drone or model airplane at a particular place and time. Listed below are the US DOT’s current mobile apps.

US DOT’s Mobile Apps

  • SaferCar
  • SaferRide
  • SaferBus
  • B4UFLY

SaferCar App

With the SaferCar app, users can quickly check on safety ratings on new and used cars they’re shopping for. Additionally, you can add your car’s VIN (vehicle identification number) to the app and get real-time alerts for any potential recall information. There is also information on car seats and up-to-date safety headlines and alerts.

SaferRide App

The SaferRide app allows users the easiest and quickest way to find a safe ride home. This is a perfect app for anybody who drinks alcohol at any time. Planning to find a designated driver or safe ride home can sometimes be a hassle, but it should never be a barrier to getting home safely. This app makes the process as simple and quick as possible. Input a little bit of information when you download the app, and you’ll be ready to use it when you need it.

SaferBus APP

The SaferBus app provides up-to-date information about bus company safety and compliance, so you can have confidence in the bus you’re taking on your next trip. With this app, you can see if a bus company is allowed to operate. You can review the past safety performance of the company and even file a complaint if you have to.

Finally, the B4UFLY app is for people with model airplanes or drones. With this app, you’ll have the situational awareness and confidence to safely fly your drone or model airplane in a pre-determined area. There’s a map interface, a planner mode and even additional resources from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

These mobile apps are available for iPhones and Android devices. If you have been injured or if you have lost a loved one in a car accident in or around the San Diego or Central Coast areas, contact Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, Inc. at 1.800.GO.HARRIS for a free consultation.
