On Friday afternoon, a motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash in the downtown Santa Barbara area. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the one-vehicle wreck happened near State and Carrillo Streets. For currently unknown reasons, the three-wheeled motorcycle veered across the roadway. The motorcycle hit a curb and a tree before overturning on the rider.

First responders rushed to the scene. The motorcycle rider was rushed to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for the treatment of major injuries. Law enforcement officers and crews were on the scene until about 6:00 p.m., where a portion of State Street was closed between Carrillo and Figueroa Streets. At this time, there has been no word on the cause of the motorcycle crash or on the current condition of the rider.
