Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Pacific Beach Crash

Over the weekend, a motorcycle rider was seriously injured in a Pacific Beach crash. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened near the 5050 Mission Boulevard area on Sunday afternoon. Apparently, the motorcyclist was headed north on Mission Boulevard, when a Volkswagen Atlas was turning onto Mission from the 800 block of Opal Street. Initial reports indicate that the motorcycle was in the turn lane, and the Volkswagen merged into that lane to make a U-turn.

Unable to stop or avoid the other vehicle, the motorcycle slid into the Volkswagen. The motorcycle rider was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of serious leg injuries. Thankfully, the injuries were not considered life-threatening on the scene. This incident could still be under investigation with local law enforcement officials.
