Multi-Car Injury Crash in City Heights
On Friday, a five-car crash sent at least four people to the hospital for treatment of injuries in City Heights. According to ABC News Channel 10, the wreck happened on a portion of University Avenue where pedestrians, cyclists and high-speed motorists mix. Advocates and concerned citizens are calling on the San Diego City Council to do something about this dangerous area.
According to the non-profit organization Circulate San Diego, in 2013, 81 people were killed while walking, biking or driving the streets of San Diego. In addition to the human toll, the estimated cost of these wrecks is about $745.2 million to the community. Areas that are high-speed corridors, that also have high pedestrian and bicycle traffic, need to be addressed to improve safety for motorist, cyclists and pedestrians across the city.
