New Traffic Signal in San Luis Obispo

A new traffic signal in San Luis Obispo could make a busy intersection much safer for pedestrians. The proposed signal will be placed at the intersection of Willow and Pomeroy Roads by mid-2016. Before that can happen, San Luis Obispo County needs to get community support and funding for the project.

Safety complaints at this intersection have prompted a call for a new traffic signal. Concerned citizens are hoping that the proposed traffic signal can improve safety for pedestrians and motorists. Currently, this intersection is controlled using four-way stop signs. Citizens are worried that the stop signs just aren’t enough for these two major roads. The Santa Maria Times reports that preliminary design work could start in as early as January.
