St. Patrick's day festivities, green beer.

It’s no secret that St. Patrick’s Day is one of the deadliest holidays on U.S. roadways, so the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has just started publicizing their annual Saint Patrick’s Day safety campaign. Saint Patrick’s Day has become synonymous with green beer and heavy partying. Unfortunately, this has also resulted in an increase in injury causing and fatal drunk driving crashes. This year, the NHTSA wants people to know that Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving too, so if you plan on celebrating St. Patty’s Day with alcohol, make sure to have a safe ride home.

St. Patrick’s Day Crash Facts

Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day With a Plan

The best way to make sure you have a fun and successful St. Patrick’s Day is to celebrate with a plan. That means you should have a plan for a safe ride home before you start drinking. This can be as simple as designating a driver or planning to call a taxi at the end of the night. Planning ahead of time can ensure you get home easily and safely after a fun night of partying. Pre-program a cab company’s number into your phone or download a ridesharing app. Don’t wait until the last minute to try to find a ride at the end of the night.
