Nine Arrests in San Diego at DUI Checkpoint

Last week, there was a DUI checkpoint in downtown San Diego. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, nine people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. The DUI checkpoint was setup on the 1400 block of G Street on Friday night, and ran until 3:00 a.m. on Saturday. Law enforcement officers checked over 1,100 vehicles during this time period.

Of those vehicles checked, nine people were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. An additional person was arrested on unrelated criminal charges. These efforts are part of an enhanced enforcement program to catch drunk drivers. Additionally, these DUI checkpoints are also used to deter drunk driving and raise awareness about the consequences of drinking and driving.
