The National Safety Council (NSC) is raising awareness about the dangers of distracted driving this month. April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the NSC is hoping to empower motorists to put safety first and just drive. They have a variety of educational resources available for parents, teens, employers and drivers of all ages. On April 19, 2017, they will be putting on a free webinar to help educate motorists about eliminating distractions in their own cars and how to respond to the distracted drivers we all share the road with. The NSC is calling on all motorists to make the pledge to drive cell free this month and all year long.

Distracted Driving Online Course

The NSC has an online course to help change motorists’ behavior and attitudes about distracted driving. This course is a great tool for organizations and employers who have workers that drive, but it’s also great for teens, parents and all other motorists who are interested in reducing distracted driving habits. There are two different versions of the course available. One of the courses is 45 minutes long, and the other is 90 minutes long. There is a free five-minute demo for anybody who is interested in one of the longer courses.

One Call Can Change Everything

Mobile devices are incredibly distracting for drivers in California and across the nation. Distracted driving, texting especially, has become a deadly nationwide epidemic. It only takes one call or text to change everything. When it comes to driving, we can’t safely multitask behind the wheel. Just focus on driving. Even the cognitive distraction of a text can take valuable attention away from a busy roadway.

When drivers are engaging in distracted behaviors behind the wheel, they’re not paying attention to the roadway. Road conditions can change in an instant, so it’s critical for all drivers to make a commitment to distraction-free driving in April and all year-round.
