Off-Duty Police Officer Killed by Semi Truck

An off-duty Oxnard Police officer was killed when a semi-truck hit his motorcycle on Wednesday. According to KSBY News Channel Six, the incident happened just as Officer Nathan Martin was leaving the police station. Very few details about this fatal truck crash have been released, but initial reports indicate that a large tractor-trailer made a left turn in front of Martin. His motorcycle was hit and he reportedly suffered from major injuries.

Although Martin was rushed to the hospital for treatment, he did not survive his injuries. Martin was a 20-year veteran of the Oxnard Police Department and a school resource officer at Hueneme High School. At this time, there has been no word on whether or not the truck driver is facing any citations associated with the crash, and this incident is likely still under investigation with the California Highway Patrol.
