Crash in Arroyo Grande Causes Power Outages

Another one-car crash left residents without power on Thursday night. Following the crash, all lanes of 101 Freeway had to be closed. An alleged drunk driver struck a power pole after losing control of his vehicle. High tension power lines were strewn across the freeway. The crash, which happened north of the Grand Avenue exit, occurred at about 6:30 p.m. KEYT News Channel Three reports that about 50 cars were stranded as emergency crews worked.

An estimated 5,000 people were without power due to the crash until about 11:00 p.m. The driver, 46-year-old David Skillman, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. Crews were able to get the freeway back open by 11:00 p.m., but power company crews had to make additional repairs overnight.
