Pacific Beach DUI Checkpoint Arrests

On Friday, 16 people were arrested during a DUI checkpoint in Pacific Beach. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the checkpoint was setup between 11:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. Saturday on the 2700 block of Garnet Avenue. Of the 439 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint, 20 drivers were evaluated. Of those, 15 were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Another driver was arrested on unrelated charges. Additionally, two citations were issued and 14 vehicles were impounded.

This wasn’t the only DUI checkpoint that was held over Super Bowl weekend. Not only are these checkpoints aimed at getting drunk drivers off of the roads, they’re also meant to be a deterrent to those who might consider getting behind the wheel after drinking.
