Over the weekend, a passenger was killed in a crash involving two suspected drunk drivers. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened near Rutgers Avenue and East H Street in Chula Vista. Both cars involved in the crash were reportedly traveling at high rates of speed. One of the drivers lost control of their vehicle while it was coming down a hill. The vehicle skidded about 300 feet, struck a median and a tree before flying through oncoming traffic to land on a sidewalk beside the roadway.

The tree was struck so hard it was uprooted and had to be removed from the scene. The two drivers involved were charged with DUI. Other charges may be pending as this collision is still under investigation. There is suspicion that street racing may also have been a factor in this crash.
