Pedestrian Killed by Drunk Driver
Over the weekend, a suspected drunk driver killed a pedestrian in Imperial Beach. According to ABC Channel 10 News, the incident happened about a block away from a DUI checkpoint at Palm Avenue and Ninth Street. Officers at that checkpoint actually heard the crash and rushed to the scene. Although very few details have been released, we do know that the pedestrian was crossing Palm Avenue at the time of the collision.
The driver, 24-year-old Jonathan Rojas, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. Even with increased law enforcement presence and DUI checkpoints over the holiday weekend, preventable injury-causing and fatal crashes still occurred across the state. The team at Harris Personal Injury Lawyers, Inc. sends their deepest condolences to the pedestrian’s friends and loved ones.
