On Wednesday morning, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Interstate 5 in Chula Vista. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident happened near Palomar Street, in the northbound lanes, at about 5:30 a.m. After the initial crash, a motorcycle rider was unable to avoid the pedestrian and also struck that person. The motorcycle rider was injured in the crash.

In spite of serving in an effort to avoid the crash, a third vehicle also struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian did not survive the collisions. At this time, officials with the California Highway Patrol are still looking for the first driver who hit the pedestrian. Anybody with information is being asked to contact the CHP immediately.
