Power Outages after Fatal One-Car Crash

Power outages followed a fatal crash in Logan Heights on Tuesday. This one-car crash took out a power pole. CBS Channel Eight reports that about 571 San Diego Gas & Electric customers were without power. The crash, which occurred in the 3300 block of Imperial Avenue, happened before 3:25 a.m. The driver of a Toyota Matrix was travelling at high speeds when he was unable to safely negotiate a turn. His car went off the roadway and struck a power pole. Dino Delimitros, with the San Diego Police Department, said that the driver died at the scene.

Customers did have their power restored by 6:00 a.m. Officers with the California Highway Patrol were on the scene swiftly. Areas of the freeway were closed for about an hour while officers investigated and cleared the scene.
