Oakland—A man was collecting recyclables on Wednesday and was hit by a vehicle that never stopped. This unfortunate incident occurred on Market Street around 4:20 a.m. The East Bay Times interviewed a local man who was there on scene, “Dino Lucas, 51, who lives in the area, said the man, who he only knows as Curtis, ‘has no income, no checks, so he collects recyclables.’” This man also stated that the man he knows as Curtis, was collecting plastic/aluminum pieces when they both saw a car ‘zig-zagging’ towards them. Both men tried to avoid the car, although, Curtis was critically hit. “Police said the impact knocked the man more than 50 feet, leaving him unconscious and bleeding in the middle of the street.” The police are looking for the driver, who was in a two-door red car with faded red paint. This incident is currently under investigation, and police are offering $5,000 in reward money for information of the driver.
