Over the weekend, there was a rollover crash on Highway 101 in Montecito. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the wreck happened on Saturday afternoon, just west of Olive Mill Road. A Ford Escape drifted off of the roadway, overturned and struck a tree about 50 feet from the roadway. Initial reports indicate that the driver may have been drowsy or nearly falling asleep behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

At least one person in the vehicle was injured in the crash. A portion of the roadway had to be closed for about an hour and a half as first responders and crews worked the scene. Officials are reminding motorists to pull over and take a break if they have any symptoms of drowsy driving. These symptoms include yawning or blinking a lot, missing an exit, drifting from your lane or hitting a rumble strip.
