Safe Driving Class for Seniors in Lompoc

After several crashes involving senior drivers on the Central Coast recently, the Dick DeWees Community Senior Center in Lompoc is offering a driving class aimed at increasing roadway safety for elderly drivers. KCOY News Channel 12 reports that the class is going to be available to AARP members for $15. The class is going to familiarize senior drivers with new laws, testing and safe driving habits.

Officials with the California Highway Patrol want to point out that California drivers who are 70 years old and older are now required to renew their licenses at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). They will have to take a vision test and a written exam to renew their licenses. The California Highway Patrol also offers an “Age Well Drive Smart” class for senior citizens. Talking about and enrolling in these classes are great ways to open up a dialogue with a loved one about his or her driving abilities too.
