Santa Maria Apartment Fire Sends One to Hospital

On Wednesday morning, a burn victim had to be air lifted to a hospital after an apartment fire broke out in Santa Maria. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, Just after 7:00 a.m., multiple units from the Santa Maria Fire Department responded to a residential fire in the 800 block of East Cook Street.

First responders with the police department assisted victims prior to the fire department’s arrival. At least one person had to be flown to a burn unit in Fresno for treatment of injuries. Noozhawk reports that the incident is currently being considered accidental, but is quick to point out that the fire is still under investigation.
