SBPD Cracks Down on Dangerous Motorcycle Riding

Motorcycle riders are one of the few roadway users groups that continue to see an increase in roadway fatalities. On Wednesday, officials with the Santa Barbara Police Department plan to do something about that. They are cracking down on dangerous motorcycle riding behaviors. In efforts to reduce motorcycle injuries and fatalities in Santa Barbara, they’re conducting a motorcycle safety operation.

According to KSBY News Channel Six, additional officers will be patrolling areas that are popular with motorcycle riders and areas where there have been a high number of motorcycle crashes. They also report that during the past year, 51 motorcyclists were injured and one was killed in Santa Barbara alone.
