Scooter Rider Injured in Santa Barbara

On Friday morning, a scooter rider was injured after a wreck with a taxi cab in Santa Barbara. The incident happened on Gutierrez Street just before 11:30 a.m. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the 46-year-old scooter rider was headed west on Gutierrez Street, when a driver pulled out in front of him. The cab driver was turning off of Alisos Street, which does have a stop sign.

The scooter rider was unable to stop in time, and broadsided the taxi. The rider was ejected and landed on the other side of the car. First responders were swiftly on the scene. Although his injuries didn’t appear to be life threatening, he was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for evaluation and treatment. The cab driver was cited for a right-of-way violation.
