Seal Beach Officer Hit by Suspected Drunk Driver

Last weekend, a suspected drunk driver hit a Seal Beach police officer. According to KTLA News Channel Five, the incident happened on the Pacific Coast Highway near Mariner Drive on Saturday afternoon. Initial reports indicate that the police officer was standing near his parked patrol car during a traffic stop at the time of the crash. Apparently, a southbound Ford F-150 slammed into the officer’s patrol car. The truck then crashed into a nearby wall, and the driver fled on foot.

The police officer was knocked to the ground during the wreck, and a passing Seal Beach police volunteer who witnessed the crash called for help and rendered aid to the injured officer. The police officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment of moderate injuries, and the suspected drunk driver was located and apprehended a short distance away from the crash scene.
