About a week ago, a self-driving vehicle was involved in an accident in San Francisco. The self-driving vehicle, operated by General Motor’s Cruise Automation subsidiary crashed on 1100 block of Golden Gate Avenue. San Francisco Gate reported on the accident and confirmed that the Chevrolet Bolt, stopped for blinking yellow lights at a crosswalk, a Toyota Highlander followed the Bolt and slowed. However, the car behind the Toyota did not slow and rammed into the back of the Toyota. This caused the Toyota to crash into the Bolt. The injuries involved are minor, however, all crashes involving self-driving vehicles must be reported. Luckily, this accident did not cause major injuries, nor was it the self-driving car’s fault. Accidents like these can be avoided, however, the question remains… Are self-driving vehicles safer?
