An autonomous vehicle operated by Uber took the life of a pedestrian in Tempe, Arizona. This has been the first reported self-driving accident causing death. According to National Public Radio, the vehicle was in autonomous mode, however, there was a driver in the vehicle. The woman pedestrian was immediately taken to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Further reports have not been released, however, Uber did release an apology statement and are cooperating with the investigation. Uber also stopped all self-driving cars on the roads until further notice.
