A few weeks ago, a small dog was attacked and killed by a pit bull-type dog that was loose in Grover Beach. According to The San Luis Obispo Tribune, a few people playing tennis at the park saw an old man being attacked by a large dog. He was on the ground and trying to pull his small dog from the jaws of the larger pit bull’s mouth. The bystanders ran over to help, and the pit bull ran off.

Witnesses on the scene tried to follow the dog when it ran off but were unable to keep up with it. It was described as solid, light gray in color with a pink collar and an identification tag that looked like an Army dog tag. The dog’s face was covered in blood when it left. The small dog it attacked died, and no information has been released on the extent of injuries suffered by the older gentlemen.
