Stolen Truck Fatal Hit and Run Crash

Last weekend, a driver in a stolen pickup truck caused a fatal crash in Gardena. According to KTLA News Channel Five, the 19-year-old driver stole a 2018 Dodge Ram 3500 from outside of an auto shop. He was traveling at a high rate of speed and ran a red light prior to hitting several vehicles. The truck crashed into a vehicle near Redondo Beach Boulevard and Vermont Avenue and killed the driver, a 30-year-old woman.

The driver, Isaiah Lono, aka Isaiah Portillo, is currently facing one count each of murder, fleeing the scene of a fatal collision and grand theft, as well as various misdemeanor charges associated with hit-and-run driving, property damage and driving without a license. As of Wednesday, he was still in police custody. If convicted, he could face 18 years to life in prison.
