On Sunday night, there was a single-vehicle crash involving an overturned SUV on Highway 166 near Santa Maria. According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, the wreck happened just east of Tepusquet Road at about 10:20 p.m. Very little information has been released, but we do know that there were two occupants inside of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
For currently unknown reasons, the SUV left the roadway and overturned down a hill beside the roadway. First responders had to extricate the occupants from the wreckage. One person had to be airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment of major injuries. The other person was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment. There has been no word on their conditions, and the cause of this crash is likely still under investigation with the California Highway Patrol.
