Teen Driver Pursuit Ends in Injury Crash

Earlier this week, there was a police pursuit involving a teen driver that resulted in an injury crash in San Diego. According to ABC San Diego News Channel 10, the incident started at about 7:20 p.m. on Monday night. Apparently, a 2019 Jeep Compass was stolen from the 3800 block of Fairmont Avenue. The driver, a 16-year-old boy, was speeding, and a law enforcement officer attempted to pull him over around 54th Street and University Avenue.

The driver continued to flee and ran red lights before crashing into a traffic signal in the Chollas Creek area. At this time, it’s unclear if he was ejected from the vehicle or was trying to get out before it stopped. He was run over by the Jeep, and he had to be transported to the hospital for treatment of a fractured hip and other injuries. Two 16-year-old girls were also taken to the hospital.
