Friday in Saratoga a vehicle drove off Highway 9, crashed into a tree and burst into flames. The driver of the vehicle was a 17-year-old male who was ejected from his seat and was pinned to the tree. The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. His two passengers were both 17 years old and could escape the car. The East Bay Times stated, “their identities were not released because they are minors. Both were transported to a hospital and treated for minor injuries.” The vehicle was down an embankment and was not visible to the street. The emergency crew was unable to free the trapped driver. Per the investigators, the vehicle was badly damaged from the fire and the make/model was unidentifiable. This incident was the result of speeding downhill.
